Volunteer

We have many different types of volunteer opportunities available at both the Junior High and the Senior High School. Please fill out the Junior High Volunteer Form or the High School Volunteer Form. The time commitments vary greatly among the different jobs, so we hope you will find something that might fit your schedule. Please contact either of the volunteer coordinators if you have any questions or would like more information about a particular position before signing up. We would be glad to help you find the right place to help out!

Volunteer Coordinators   Bonnie Maserang (HS) BSMDesign@comcast.net (978) 264-1886
Elaina Kourepenos (JHS) ekourepenos@comast.net (978) 263-8324

CORI Forms Needed for All Volunteers

The School System is required by law to have a cleared "criminal offender record information" (CORI) form on file for all volunteers who might have direct and unmonitored contact with children when no other CORI cleared employee is present. It takes about two weeks for a form to be processed. Forms can be found in the school offices, and should be turned back in to the offices. Read about 2006 CORI Form Regulations.

Any person who wants to volunteer in the schools must have a CORI check. CORI checks are mandated by the state for the protection of your children. We recommend that BOTH parents/guardians submit CORI forms, which can be obtained at the Junior High and High School offices.

Help Wanted for Career Exploration

We are looking for parents who might like to contribute to the high school's Career Exploration program by serving as career speakers or as job shadowing hosts or by referring us to others who might like to help in this way.

Career areas in which Kay Steeves is currently looking for people to serve as career speakers or job shadowing hosts include: graphic design, broadcasting or communications, music production, computer science, psychology, fashion design, advertising and any biology-based field.

Being a career speaker involves meeting with a group of interested students for about 45 minutes once during the year. Helping with the job shadowing program involves hosting one or more students at your place of work for a half-day visit. Kay would be glad to provide more information for anyone with questions about these programs.

Student Translators Needed

Assistant Principal, Susan Atwater-Rhodes, is creating a list of our High School students who can act as translators when the need arises.

Given the number of new students entering the district from other countries and cultures, some with little or no English, Susan has had a request to develop a student resource list. This list includes someone a teacher could go to for assistance in translating, someone a student could go to for help understanding the expectations of this area, etc.

If your high school student would like to help out as a translator, please E-mail Susan Atwater Rhodes. This may be on a one-time basis, or more often...whatever works. Please tell us what languages your child speaks!

If you would like to help out as a volunteer translator, please E-mail Mary Ann Ashton. We may start an adult list as well.
